A specially trained Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA) can help you if your circumstances mean that you are potentially at risk from serious harm to yourself or your children. The IDVA attends the Multi Agency Risk Assesment Conferences (MARACS) mentioned in this website. She will represent you at the meetings. The meetings are a multi agency approach to reducing the risk to you and helping to develop a strategy to keep you safe from harm. The IDVA can be contacted on 01226 243761.

The IDVA only supports high risk victims of Domestic Abuse. A caseworker is available on the same telephone number. She is experienced in all aspects of domestic abuse and supports victims of domestic abuse that are not considered as 'high risk'. Both the IDVA and the caseworker are knowledgable about all the services agencies can offer in Barnsley. They can make referrals on your behalf and work with you to ensure you are getting the best support possible
