Independent Sexual Violence Advocate

An Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) is available to support and advise women in Barnsley who have been raped or sexually abused at any time in their lives. Ruth is based with the agency BSARCH (Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Helpline.

If youre a survivor of sexual violence, you can contact The ISVA or ask someone to contact her on your behalf.

The ISVA will work with you to identify your individual needs, keep you safe, and help you access other services you might want, such as housing, health and counselling.

She will help you to understand your rights and, if you choose to report to the police, she will support you throughout the criminal justice process.
She will listen to you and respect your feelings and choices at all times, giving you as much or as little support as you want.

If you work with or care for a survivor of sexual violence, feel free to contact Ruth for more information.
